I like Winsor McCay's Little Nemo in Slumberland comic strips a lot. Ever since I found out that the whole thing went public domain in 2005, I wanted to work on my own rendition of little Nemo.

Those who know the original comic will recognize the last panel as a direct homage to McCay's work. Of course the rest is heavily inspired by the wonderful Shadow of the Colossus.

Hopefully this is only the first of many. If time allows, I would like to do more of these!

Nice update of McCay's work. I also liked the Colossus reference. Very cool idea.

Excellent work. I have the anthology of the series myself, and I love how it started off in one format and gradually evolved into the "traditional" comic format that everyone uses today. Some of the content is a bit, uh, racy (ok, a LOT racy)...but I realize that it was the time period. And yeah, to anyone who's read enough of the strip, this comic is very much like the format of how a typical story originally went. Again, great work.

Is the character seriously in public domain? Like could you actually make a comic like this and get it published and make money off of it?
